Erica Cathey

    

Erica Cathey is herself a product of Oakland Public schools and has lived locally her entire life (except for a brief move to Ohio).

Ms. Cathey has a Batchelor’s in African American Studies from San Francisco State and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Cambridge College. She has worked at several elementary schools in Oakland, Ohio and San Francisco over the past 13 years. Ms. Cathey wants all students to be literate, critical thinkers who love math and science and works to accomplish this by providing lots of hands-on and real life learning experiences.

Ms. Cathey has four daughters and enjoys knitting, sewing, and spending time with her children.

 

 

Pierre Clark                    

Pierre Clark is thrilled to be joining the Vincent Academy team! He grew up in Oakland, currently resides in Oakland and is excited to be working in an Oakland public charter school!

Mr. Clark earned his Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. While at Morehouse, Mr. Clark had the opportunity to study abroad at Oxford University, where he studied philosophy and child development. During his time in undergraduate studies, he also had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant in a 5th grade class at Fickett Elementary for two years. Upon returning from undergraduate studies, Mr. Clark earned his teaching credential from San Francisco State University via the BATTI (Bay Area Teacher Training Institute) program. While earning his credential Mr. Clark was an associate teacher in a 1st and 3rd grade class at Live Oak School in San Francisco.

In his free time, Mr. Clark enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, and being outdoors.

 

 

Marissa Giovacchini

Marissa Giovacchini is very excited to be a part of the Vincent Academy team! Her goal is to inspire, challenge, and instill children with the knowledge and skills to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.

Ms. Giovacchini has taught Kindergarten through 3rd grade and really enjoys primary education. She has 4 years of experience having taught in Alameda and in Oakland. She holds an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from CSU Chico, and acquired her credential at CSU East Bay.

Having grown up in San Jose and Pleasanton, Ms. Giovacchini is a Bay Area native. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family. Often Ms. Giovacchini can be found attending local sporting events, her favorites include hockey, baseball, and football!


 

 

Rassamee Hayes        

Rassamee Hayes is delighted to be returning to Vincent Academy for its second year!

Ms. Hayes has 8 years of experience teaching in both kindergarten and special education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Western Washington University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Seattle University. Ms. Hayes has expertise in Writers and Readers Workshop, Positive Discipline, and National Urban Alliance literacy strategies. She is also a founding member of The Hidden Genius Project, a mentoring program that provides Oakland black male youths with the knowledge, skills, mentors, and experiences to obtain and create technological jobs in this new, global, 21st century economy.

Originally from Tacoma, Washington and Ms. Hayes now loves living in the Bay Area. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, trying new recipes, and relaxing with her husband Isaak.


 

Michelle Palasek

Michelle Palasek is honored to be part of the Vincent Academy instructional team.  Her past teaching experiences have been in San Francisco and she is now thrilled to become a member of the Oakland teaching community. Michelle is committed to working hard, while providing the best social, emotional and academic support for each child. She is inspired by the tenacity and resilience that her students show her every day!

Michelle graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studes with an emphasis in Ethnic Studies.  She earned her California Teaching Credential in 2009.

When Michelle is not teaching, she loves to cook, hike, look at artand listen to music.  Most of all, she loves spending time with her 7-year old Labrador retriever, “Raven”.
